TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Development Planning Minister and Head of the National Development PLanning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro, targeted to finish the final study on the location of the future capital city by the end of this year. Bambang hoped that the primary infrastructure could be developed in 2020.

"This study will surely be completed this year so the final location can be determined this year, and by 2020, preparations for the basic construction and infrastructure can be started," said Bambang in Bina Graha building, Central Jakarta, Monday, May 13, 2019.

According to Bambang, the government was expected to prepare or revise a regulation concerning the relocation after the research completed. The government would also draft the spatial planning and the financing scheme, as well as prepare incentives to support entrepreneurs move the basic economic infrastructure in the new administrative center.

"This incentive will be provided because the relocation is costly. We also hope the construction of the new capital will not excessively use the State Budget," Bambang added.

Bambang earlier estimated that the planned move to outside Java would spend around IDR 323 to 466 trillion and require a total of 30,000 to 40,000 hectares of lands.

Two possible regions for the new capital city included Bukit Soeharto in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan and Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan. The new capital was predicted to bring 1,5 million people comprised of state apparatus (ASN), Indonesian Military, and National Police.
