Ed Sheeran Orders Rendang, Tempe before Jakarta Concert

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - British musician Ed Sheeran is set to cap his Divide World Tour 2019 in Asia by holding a concert in Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium, Central Jakarta, tonight, May 3.

Before his music performance, the singer of Perfect tried Indonesian cuisines in Tugu Kunstkring Paleis with his wife on Thursday evening. Sheeran also took selfies with several employees in the restaurant, which was located in Gondangdia, Menteng.

“Dear Ed Sheeran, thank you for visiting Tugu Kunstkring Paleis before your big event. We are so delighted to welcome and serve you for dinner,” according to the official account of the restaurant on Friday, May 3.

Posting the same photo, Renny Sutiyoso said the singer-songwriter requested tempe sambal ijo (fermented soybean with green sauce) and rendang (beef dish) for the concert. “Thank you, Ed Sheeran, for choosing to eat in Kunstkring before your big night tomorrow. I will send tempe sambal ijo and rendang to the backstage as you requested,” said Renny in her social media account.

Prior to arriving in Indonesia, The 28-year-old singer uploaded his experience of having dined in Gaggan restaurant owned by chef Gaggan Anand in Bangkok, Thailand, who presented unique molecular gastronomy dishes.

Sheeran brought along his 50 crew members to Jakarta and his personal chef who specially made his foods as he is on pescatarian diet. However, he made exceptions for the music concert to explore local dishes.

Ed Sheeran Divide World Tour 2019 series kicked off on March 16, 2017.
