TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an investigation into Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin in the bribery case involving Romahurmuziy on Wednesday, May 8. The commission sent the summons on April 30, 2019.

“The summons has been delivered to his office on April 30 for an investigation schedule on May 8,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah in a written statement, Friday, May 3.

The anti-graft body initially scheduled the examination on April 24, which Lukman failed to meet because of his agenda in Bandung.

The KPK named Romahurmuziy or Romy a suspect in an alleged bribery case in the Religious Affairs Ministry. The former United Development Party (PPP) chairman was suspected of receiving Rp300 million in bribe money from the Ministry's East Java office head Haris Hasanuddin and the Ministry’s Gresik office head Muafaq Wirahadi. It was suspected that the bribe was intended for both's appointment as officials in the ministry.

During the investigation, KPK searched Lukman’s office and seized Rp180 million and US$30,000 relative to Romy’s case.

Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, meanwhile, said he was set to meet the KPK’s summons yet balked at revealing the source of the money seized from his office.
