TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State airport operator Angkasa Pura I to start the operation of New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) on April 29. In order to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of the operation, AP I to conduct simulation related to the airport operational from April 20 to 26.
"The simulation is done to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of the Airport's operation, considering the high flight traffic around Yogyakarta and Central Java," said AP I president director Faik Fahmi, Saturday, April 20.
The series of simulation will test a number of aspects, starting from the supporting transportation system from and to the airport, until the worthiness of the facility in the airport.
Airport Security Committee will start the simulation on the security aspect of the airport on April 20.
The readiness of supporting transportation, such as Damri bus, taxi, train, and private vehicles, will be tested on April 24. It aims to find out the travel time of passengers from the departure point in and outside of Yogyakarta heading to the NYIA airport in Kulon Progo.
On April 26, the simulation of the passengers' movement from the city and outside the city until the departure process at the departure terminal will be conducted. In this phase, the infrastructure and service of the airport will be tested.
The development progress of the New Yogyakarta International Airport for international flights is nearly complete 100%, while the progress of the total project that is targeted to finish at the end of the year has reached 47%.
