TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Speaker of the House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo urged the General Elections Commission (KPU) to evaluate the implementation of the 2019 elections, which took place abroad.

"There are still many problems with regard to the implementation of the election," Soesatyo said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The statement was conveyed in response to the problems faced during the implementation of the elections, particularly in Hong Kong and Australia, and relating to the number of Special Voters List Foreign Country (DPKLN) or voters who have not been registered in the Final Voter List (DPT).

Soesatyo said that the KPU should ensure all Indonesian citizens could use their voting rights abroad.

He urged the KPU to find the best solution for Indonesian citizens living abroad who could not exercise their right to vote because one vote could determine the fate of the nation.

"All Indonesian citizens have the same rights and obligations in the 2019 elections," he said.

Previously, several Indonesians failed to exercise their votes after they ran out of time as polling stations were reportedly shut at 05:00 pm local time. Among them were Indonesians residing in the Australian city of Sydney and China's city of Hong Kong.
