KPU: 40 Certified Pollsters Allowed to Release Quick Count

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Election Commission (KPU) has issued a list of 40 survey institutes that are authorized to announce the quick count result of the 2019 general elections.

“So, a certified pollster means it has been verified officially by the KPU and has fulfilled the requirement as a survey institute for the 2019 election,” said the board commissioner Wahyu Setiawan in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, April 16.

According to Wahyu, several basic requirements include the submission of financial report to ensure it as an independent institute, detail information on the methodology used in a survey, and a list of personnel running a survey.

As for the time to announce quick counts, he went on, is referred to the Law No. 7 of 2019 on the election. Pollsters are allowed to release survey results two hours after the voting and vote counting in polling stations (TPS) end.

“We have known that activities in the TPS complete at 1 p.m., so two hours after that, survey institutes are allowed [to publish quick count of Indonesia election],” Wahyu concluded.
