TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry has announced that the construction project of Jakarta - Cikampek II elevated toll road will be postponed during the 2019 Eid homecoming session until the return period on June 10, 2019.

Land Transport Director-General Budi Setiyadi said that the delay will be carried out to anticipate congestion along the project site.

“It’s been stated that elevated toll road project is impossible to complete in Eid (early June). So, the construction will be halted temporarily,” said Budi Setiyadi when met in a press conference in Harris Vertu Harmoni Hotel, Jakarta, on Tuesday, April 9.

State-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga conveyed the statement during a focus discussion group (FGD) on Tuesday. The FGD involved a number of stakeholders, Transportation Ministry, and National Police for talks about the preparation of the 2019 homecoming.

Other than the elevated toll road, MRT (Mass Rapid Transits) and LRT (Light Rail Transits) projects will be delayed as well. The ministry and the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) will apply traffic engineering to reduce congestion.
