TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Management of Jakarta’s Ragunan zoo reportedly is set to evaluate the existence of old trees inside the zoo after a tree branch fell over several visitors and unfortunately killed one person on April 3.

“We will immediately follow it up and evaluate which [trees] to cut down and which needs minor trimming,” said Ragunan Zoo spokesman Ketut Widarsana on Thursday, April 4.

Ketut argues that zoo caretakers constantly monitor the growth of plants and conduct proper maintenance on the mostly jumbo-sized trees within Ragunan’s 147-hectare area.

He made sure that zoo workers will cut down any tree branches that may pose a health risk for its thousands of daily visitors. The unfortunate incident killed a Bekasi resident Anis Khairunisa (22).
