TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) national political development researcher Aisyah Putri Budiatri asserts that the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to act accordingly to the claims by the former head of Pasirwangi police sector Adj. Comm. Sulman Aziz.

Aisyah made it clear and urged the Bawaslu to practice its authority in handling those that should be politically neutral.”Bawaslu should stay within the legal corridor, and that they are mainly tasked to do that,” said Aisyah on Monday.

On Sunday, March 30, Sulman made a shocking claim alleging Garut Police Chief Adj. Grand Comm. Budi Satria Wiguna of ordering 22 police chiefs to influence members of the public to vote for incumbent presidential candidate Jokowi in the upcoming election.

The LIPI researcher warned of numerous possible heated situations in the wake of the presidential election and that the Bawaslu should prepare a procedure to verify any outlandish claims; “There must be a verification process and what not. Don’t get tied in the hoax fiasco,” she said.
