Police Nab American National for Alleged Drug Trafficking

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Nusa Tenggara Police have arrested an American citizen for alleged involvement in drug trafficking in the resort island of Gili Trawangan.

A spokesman of the West Nusa Tenggara police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Purnama confirmed here on Sunday, they have arrested a US citizen identified by his initial as `CS` (46) in a raid in Gili Trawangan on late Saturday.

"In the raid, the police found 1.21 kilograms of marijuana," Purnama said.

The police, he continued, also found a set of meth pipe, empty plastic bags and "magical" mushroom, Rp600 thousand in cash, and a tool to duplicate keys.

In addition to CS, the police also arrested a local resident of Labuhan Haji, East Lombok District identified as MR (24).

"The two suspects were arrested for allegedly distributing and consuming marijuana and methamphetamine," he added.

The police would work jointly with related institutions to investigate the case and CS' activities during his stay in the region.

The suspects have charged with article 114 of the law no 35/2009 on narcotics.
