TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno called on millennials to use electronic payment system LinkAja. Rini hoped LinkAja could be developed in the future.

The newly-run electronic money system was initiated by state-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom Indonesia and the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara).

“I suggest all millennials utilize the e-payment system introduced by Telkom and Himbara, LinkAja,” said Minister Rini on Monday, March 25, during her speech in the launching event of The Next Indihome held by PT Telkom in Jakarta.

LinkAja is a financial technology of digital payment through Quick Response or QR code that is merged from Telkomsel’s payment service TCash and TBank, BRI’s MyQR, Mandiri’s e-cash, and BNI’s yap! And UnikQu, and other digital payment of other SOEs.

LinkAja provides payment services, including paying bills of electricity, water, and internet, transactions in merchant partners, transportation, and shopping in e-commerce. Users can also transfer money to other users and SOE bank clients.

The Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) assessed the presence of LinkAja could improve the collaboration between fintech players in the country, both interconnection and interoperability. Fintech players, it added, could rapidly boost financial inclusion and support the national non-cash movement declared by the government.
