TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri opined that either state or private-run company would ask job applicant’s social media accounts as one of the job requirements in the future.
“The checking of social media accounts will be a trend among companies before giving a job to applicants. That means accounts displaying negative contents may beset your career journey,” said Minister Hanif Wednesday, March 20, during his welcoming speech in a working visit to Semarang.
Therefore, Hanif called on all public elements, especially the young generation or millennials, to be wise and use social media consciously because it represents users' identity.
Hanif told that there was an applicant passed the written test and interview but the company could not give him the job after they found negative contents on the applicant's social media.
“So I suggest you all be careful in using social media. Do not fall for hoax information and spread it, especially false reports related to foreign workers,” the minister concluded.
