TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially named United Development Party (PPP) chairman Romahurmuziy as a suspect in the alleged bribery case at the Religious Affairs Ministry. He is named as the bribe recipient.

"KPK has completed the examination and with the evidence found, KPK raised the status of the case into the investigation level," said the anti-graft agency deputy chief Laode Muhammad Syarif at his office in south Jakarta, Saturday, March 16.

Besides Romahurmuziy, commonly known as Romy, KPK also named the other two as suspects; head of Religious Affairs Ministry's East Java office Haris Hasanudin and head of Religious Affairs Ministry's Gresik office Muhammad Muafaq Wirahadi as the bribers in the case.

KPK suspected Romahurmuziy received Rp250 million on February 6, to approve Haris Hasanudin in the recruitment process, and the latter was then selected and was officially inaugurated on March 12.

On March 15, Muhammad Muafaq and Haris Hasanudin met again with Romy to hand Rp50 million for passing Muhammad Muafaq in the job recruitment, said KPK deputy chief Laode.

Romahurmuziy has previously sent his apology, through a letter sent to journalists at the KPK HQ on March 16, to the National Campaign Team of Jokowi - Ma'ruf after arrested in the sting op (OTT) on Friday. Romy is the advisory board member at the Jokowi - Ma'ruf campaign team.
