Released from Kim Jong-nam Murder, Siti Aisyah Returns Home

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Siti Aisyah is expected to return to Jakarta this afternoon after being acquitted from the murder case of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half-brother, Kim Jong-nam.
The director general of general law administration, Cahyo Rahadian Muzhar, explained that Aisyah would arrive at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta at 15:30 local time, accompanied by Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly.
“The Minister will hold a press conference at Halim Jakarta and at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur,” said Cahyo to Tempo today.
According to The Star, the court dropped all charges against Siti on Monday, March 11, after prosecutors applied for her acquittal. The prosecution did not say their reason for dropping the charges.

Siti Aisyah and Doan Thi Huong from Vietnam were tried for their alleged roles in the murder of Kim Jong-nam. The women were accused of smearing the toxic nerve agent VX on his face at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in February 2017.
Both women claimed they did not know what was happening and thought they were taking part in a prank for a Japanese comedy show. Kim Jong-nam died minutes after the toxic lotion was smeared on his face.
