Representatives of Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia Meet Aisyah

Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Zahrain Mohamed Hashim provides explanation on the situation related to the investigation on Siti Aisyah on February 23, 2017.

TEMPO.CO, Kuala Lumpur The representatives of Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia met Siti Aisyah, an Indonesian woman suspected of murdering North Korean leader Kim Jong-uns half-brother Kim Jong-nam at Cyberjaya Police Office in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

The Indonesian embassys representatives who met Aisyah were Andreano Erwin, Deputy Chief of Mission of Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia; Mulkan Lekat, Immigration Attache, Yusron B Ambary, Chairman of Indonesian Citizen Protection Task Force; Azura, a lawyer of Gooi and Azura firm; and immigration officers.

The government of Malaysia has provided consular access to the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Feb 25) from 10.00 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. local time to meet Aisyah.
The immigration officer of Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia visited the detention room. He also carried a mobile device to verify the personal data and the authenticity of the fingerprint of Aisyah.

Chairman of Indonesian Citizen Protection Task Force of Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia meanwhile stated that Aisyah was in good health.

"Aisyah sought her parents blessing and asked them to keep themselves healthy and not to come to Malaysia," he stated.

He informed Aisyah that the Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia has appointed a lawyer and will assist her while undergoing the legal process.

Deputy Chief of Mission of Indonesian Embassy to Malaysia Andreano Erwin expressed gratitude to the government of Malaysia for providing consular access to meet Aisyah.
Aisyah was detained by Royal Malaysian Police on Feb 13. Her detention was extended for seven days until March 1.

Jong-nam, a 45-year-old man, was allegedly killed by two women, who splashed some chemical liquid on his face, at the departure terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on Monday (Feb 13) at around 9 a.m. local time before leaving for Macau.
