TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A flash flood has damaged 11 homes in Kawaliwu, Sina Hading Village, Lewoleda Sub-district, East Flores District, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Incessant heavy rains triggered the flash flood on Thursday, East Flores District Head Antonius Gege Hadjon stated on Friday.

"Nearly half of the Kawalimu area is flooded following rains falling from morning until afternoon," he noted.

The local disaster mitigation office has deployed officers to distribute relief aid and set up emergency tents for displaced victims.

Indonesia is currently transitioning from rainy to the dry season. In several regions, however, high precipitation still occurred and triggered flooding in West Java, East Java, Lampung, and South Sumatra Provinces, among others.
