TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A social media post on the services of a Grab Car driver recently went rounds after a consumer complained about the discriminative treatment she received from online-taxi driver identified as Anjar Mujiono.

Allegedly, the passenger was asked to exit the car after the driver found out that they had contrasting political views regarding the upcoming 2019 presidential election.

The unfortunate experience was retold by Jeng Rini (@Widyarenee) in a Tweet posted on Monday, February 25, who recalled the discrimination experienced by her friend and FSUI alumni Eva.

“This is my friend’s experience with online transportation service. For number 01 supporters (Jokowi supporters), please don’t do the same. Voice your support in this presidential election rationally,” the Tweet read.

Eva claims she was told to step off the Grab Car vehicle after Anjar saw Eva wearing a t-shirt that showed support for Jokowi. She was then taken through a longer route which was hampered by traffic jams and a railway crossing, which Eva said was done intentionally.

After a brief argument, Anjar voiced his disdain; “I wouldn’t have picked you up if I knew you support Number 01 [presidential candidate],” the Tweet said. After he was confronted by Eva, Anjar answered; “I would like you to step off the vehicle. Get out I said!”

Following this viral post, Grab management swiftly responded to the Tweet by announcing that it has terminated their partnership with the said driver. The Twitter account @GrabID also promised to hold retraining for its drivers to avoid similar incidents happening again in the future.
