TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry is eyeing to officially implement the ministry’s regulation No.PM 118/2018 overseeing special rental transportation services such as online taxi services in June this year.

“It will be effective in June,” said Budi Setiadi, the Ministry’s land transport Directorate General on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

According to Budi, the PM 118 regulation is the most accommodating regulation for every party involved after it was revised four times in the last two and a half years.

He further explained that the norms, that were previously barred by the Supreme Court (MA), have been revoked from the PM 118.

“This is the partnership regulation, there is the role of the government, applicators, drivers, but it will be understandable if some parties are still unsatisfied by the regulation since no regulation is perfect,” said Budi Setiadi.

Budi maintained that the online taxi services regulation might be readjusted accordingly to technological development, system, and government attempts to accommodate the industrial revolution 4.0.
