PSSI's Joko Driyono Key to Solving Match-Fixing Scandal

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Soccer Association (PSSI) acting chairman Joko Driyono is suspected of playing a major role in the match-fixing scandal that rocked the country’s soccer scene a while back.
Joko was questioned as a suspect by the anti-soccer mafia task force for 21-hours, which resulted in a few facts about his role.
“He fixed the schedules and managed the match devices,” said Indonesian National Police (Polri) Spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo at the Polri headquarters on Tuesday.
However, police have yet been able to fully conclude Joko is the mastermind behind the match-fixing and has only named him a suspect for theft and tampering evidence.
“The conclusion must be based on legal facts. It could not be rushed. We have to uphold the presumption of innocence,” said Dedi.
Joko Driyono is suspected of an attempt to eliminate pieces of evidence by ordering three men to steal pieces of evidence from the PSSI Disciplinary Commission at South Jakarta which already had a police line installed.
The document that he tried to steal was a match-fixing document on a match between Persibara Banjarnegara and PS Pasuruan at the Liga 3.
