TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Papua Province’s regional secretary (Sekda) Hery Dosinaen and suspect of assault on two Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) members confessed that the beating was driven by the heat of the moment.
“In the heat of the moment, one of my reflexes hit one of the KPK members. Once again, representing myself and the Papua Provincial Administration I offer my apologies to the KPK,” said Hery on Monday following police questioning at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters.
He also said that KPK and the Papua Provincial administration had always worked in conjunction to prevent numerous cases of corruption. Hery hoped that the partnership would continue for the sake of Papua’s future.
“Based on the initial investigation led by police, we have changed Hery’s status from a witness to the suspect of the crime,” said Grand Commissioner Argo Yuwono, Metro Jaya Police Headquarter spokesman on Monday.
According to Argo Yuwono, Hery is currently facing charges up to five years imprisonment for violation against Article 351 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
