TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - European Union Ambassador to Indonesia, Vincent Guerend, tried boarding the Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta phase I HI Roundabout-Lebak Bulus. He applauded the train and its facilities.

“I and family will be so glad later (when MRT starts its commercial operational). Perhaps every day or at least every weekend, we will travel with MRT,” said Vincent in MRT Jakarta, Tuesday, February 12.

According to him, the train is very clean and modern, and so the European Union will support the modern public transportation such as MRT Jakarta. Vincent pinned hope people will change to utilize public transportation instead of a private vehicle.

Compared to MRT trains in Europe, Vincent admitted, MRT Jakarta is equipped with more modern facilities because Europe subway had already existed for decades ago. “It’s more modern here, viewed from the AC, the train platform, so this is the best. Congratulation for Jakarta,” he remarked.

At present, the construction of MRT Jakarta has 98.5 percent completed. PT MRT Jakarta CEO, William Sabandar, assured that the train will open for commercial operation on between March 24-31, 2019.
