Former Teman Ahok Members Rally Support for Jokowi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The founders of volunteer group Teman Ahok (Friends of Ahok) Amalia Ayuningtias and Singgih Widyastono have declared support for the Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin ticket for the 2019 Presidential Election.
The pair deemed Jokowi’s programs and missions were in line with what Teman Ahok championed in the past. They also called for supporters of Basuki “BTP” Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok in the 2017 Gubernatorial Election to throw their weight behind Jokowi in the upcoming election.
“I invite friends and those backing BTP to vote and avoid being non-voters,” said Singgih in a press conference at Cikini, Central Jakarta, today.

The pair formed another volunteer group called AjoJO in support of Jokowi and urged Indonesia’s youths to express their aspirations in the form of creative campaigns.
An example of such campaigns, said Amalia, would be a festival titled "Festival Satu Indonesia" (One Indonesia Festival), which was slated for March 10, 2019, at Istora Senayan. This event is set to accommodate 10,000 youths and will re-introduce Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin’s programs to those who were not yet aware of the pair’ programs.
