TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency used the air humidity prediction three months ahead to map out the threats posed by dengue fever across the city's high humidity level that potentially increases the growth of Aedes Aegepty mosquitos.
Head of the Jakarta Health Agency Widyastuti said that the three areas that are under dengue fever alert are; South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta.
“This takes into consideration of the three areas’ air humidity level that reaches 76 percent,” said Widyastuti in a written statement on Monday, January 21.
As of the February 2019 prediction, the incidence rate of dengue fevers in the three areas remain under the “Alert” status. She explained that the dengue fever incidence rate could possibly spread to five areas across Jakarta.
The research to find the correlation between air humidity level and the dengue fever sufferers was made possible under joint research by Jakarta’s Health Agency, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
