TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of National Campaign Team of Jokowi - Ma'ruf, Erick Thohir, deemed the candidate number 02 Prabowo - Sandiaga made many mistakes during the first election debate on Thursday, January 17.

“Similar to playing badminton, their camp (Prabowo - Sandiaga) tries to play but hit their own net,” said Erick Thohir when Tempo met after the debate in Bidakara Hotel, January 17.

Erick and Jokowi - Ma'ruf campaign team recorded three blunders committed by Prabowo camp. First, Sandiaga Uno stated that he was no longer a cadre of Gerindra party when Prabowo asked for an additional explanation regarding the structure board of his party.

“I was shocked that my friend (Sandiaga) made a statement that he was not Gerindra cadre when the party was being questioned. He should have backed Gerindra. This is a blunder,” said Erick.

A former presenter Tina Talisa added that candidate pair number 02 generated a fault when Prabowo claimed that most of women legislative candidates were from his party. The number, he added, reached nearly 40 percent.

Based on the General Election Commission (KPU), Prabowo's remark is true that almost 40 percent of Gerindra’s legislative candidates are women. However, the largest percentage of female candidates for the House of Representatives (DPR) does not come from Gerindra, but Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI). Besides, a party that has the most women candidates is from PSI (Indonesian Solidarity Party).

“He is wrong in referring data, the most female legislative candidates is from PSI,” Tina underlined.

The third blunder occurred when Prabowo talked on corruption issues. Jokowi questioned Prabowo’s commitment to anti-corruption that was inversely proportional to his Gerindra Party that supported many former convicts of corruption for the legislative election.

Prabowo refuted Jokowi’s statement and considered it as a subjective opinion. “We can see it there that Pak Prabowo Subianto does not know a thing about his party,” Tina concluded.
