TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The football anti-mafia task force once again arrested a suspect of an alleged match-fixing that happened in one of the country’s league, Liga Tiga Indonesia.
The suspects ML and BM were arrested on Monday night of January 14, after the arrest of five suspects.
“They are now being questioned by the task force’s investigators,” said the task force’s chairman Argo Yuwono at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on Tuesday, January 15.
ML is a staff director on referee affairs at the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) who is responsible for fixing the course of a football match. He was responsible for deciding the duration of certain injury time and the cards issued by a referee.
Argo explained that ML is a long-term employee at the PSSI and has his role linked to other suspects through a series of meetings prior to a match.
