TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Greater Jakarta Transportation (BPTJ) head Bambang Prihartono said all non-cash payments for public transportation would be integrated.

"Bank Indonesia (BI) will issue [one integrated card] in April. All cards are open loops, so it can be used for every transportation mode," said Bambang at Pondok Cabe Terminal, Monday, December 31.

The payment card would be valid for MRT trains also which its discussion on its system and price are still afoot. According to Bambang, the electronic money which currently uses the Java Chip system could be used to pay for MRT and LRT tickets.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi would later issue the regulation, and that would be audited by Bank Indonesia, Bambang added. "The Minister has contacted Bank Indonesia that there are requirements all operators must meet," he said.

Head of Jakarta economic bureau Sri Haryati had said the Jakarta administration was preparing a gubernatorial decree concerning the implementation of a payment system called electronic fare collection (EFC) which regulates the method of payment and the implementation.

The Jakarta administration decided to form a joint venture of three regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) that manage the three transportations namely MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta.
