TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol will welcome the New Year 2019 by holding an event to pray together for the victims of Sunda Strait tsunami.

"We invite 200 orphans and they will enjoy the largest aquarium in Jakarta. Then, starting at 12:00 the prayer will commence," said Corporate Communication Manager of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, Rika Lestari, when contacted by Tempo on Sunday, December 30.

The prayer will be followed by a musical performance themed 'tribute to Seventeen', in a memory of the music group personnel who became victims of the deadly disaster.

Rika added that there would be a moment of silence before the show begins as an expression of Ancol to present the deepest empathy to the tsunami disaster which had just happened in the Sunda Strait during the turn of the year.

"Visitors are estimated to reach 250,000 people," Rika said.

Meanwhile, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Deputy Managing Director Teuku Sahir Syahali, in his written statement, explained Ancol regularly holds regular prayers event every year’s end as a form of gratitude for the achievements and blessings in 2018.

For the 2019 New Year event, the prayers would be offered to the victims of Sunda Strait tsunami. "The joint prayer program will be also carried out by the Christian community of Ancol employees," said Teuku Sahir.
