Jakarta to Dispatch 6,800 People to Clean-up after New Year's Eve

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Environment Agency will dispatch 6,800 workers from its sanitation department to clean up after the New Year's Eve celebration. The cleaners will be deployed to areas the capital to sweep up trash from the city streets.
"We will send workers comprising of garbage truck drivers, crew, and trash pickers," the agency chief Isnawa Adji said in a written statement on Friday, December 28.
Isnawa said that the Water Management Unit (UPK) of the Water Agency will also dispatch staff to help with the clean-up. The officers will start cleaning the garbage at 00:30 and expected to finish before 6:00.
The Agency will also deploy 100 units of compactor vehicles, 50 road sweepers, 25 toilet buses, and others. The Bantargebang area will open for 24 hours and thousands of dust binds will be distributed to crowded areas.
To make the street cleaners job easier, Isnawa requested that street vendors and vehicle owners to leave the location as soon as the New Year's Eve celebration is over.
