TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Energy and Mineral Resource Minister Ignasius Jonan said there is enough fuel and LPG supply to last the Christmas and New Year holidays' demand. Jonan said the government will also increase the volume of fuel supply to ensure that the public can enjoy their holidays comfortably, as the ministry estimates more than 8 percent increase in consumption.
"Based on last year's 8-percent increase, this year consumption hike could be higher. So we are adding supply," he said in a written statement Tempo received on Thursday, December 20.
Last year's data also showed a trend in diesel fuel decline since most industrial vehicles cease operations during the period.
As with previous years, Jonan said the additional volume will be focused in gas stations located in popular roads for holiday destinations, near tolls' entrance and exit gates, as well as in tourist areas.
Jonan instructed Pertamina to secure supply at their depots and terminals as well as increase distribution services in high-density areas.
