TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Bureau (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, has denied rumors that President Prabowo Subianto was scheduled to visit other countries after his four-day visit to France from May 26 to 29, 2026. According to him, from the beginning, Prabowo only planned to visit France. There were no plans to visit other countries.
Qodari stated that Prabowo was not scheduled to visit other countries, such as Italy, as rumored in the public. "From the beginning, there has been no official statement from the Indonesian government regarding the President's visit to Italy," he said in a written statement on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
He conveyed that the official schedule for the President's visit at the end of this month was only to France. "If there are plans to visit other destinations during the trip, it is only a plan until there is an official announcement from the government," he said.
Qodari also mentioned that Prabowo's visit to France had been conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono a month earlier. Therefore, he said, the meeting agenda with French President Emmanuel Macron had been planned for a long time.
While Prabowo was still in France, there were rumors that the Gerindra Party chair would visit other countries. It was rumored that he intended to visit Italy, Austria, and even Hungary.
The spokesman for the Gerindra Party, Sugiat Santoso, stated that President Prabowo's visit would continue to Austria and Hungary after completing the agenda in France.
"There are three European countries that President Prabowo will visit at the end of May 2026, namely France, Austria, and Hungary. These three countries have strategic positions needed by Indonesia," Sugiat said in a written statement on May 29, 2026.
