TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Persija Jakarta coach Stefano “Teco” Cugurra was chosen as the best Indonesian League 1 coach in 2018. Teco defeated other candidates, namely Mario Gomez (Persib Bandung coach) and Robert Rene Alberts (PSM Makassar coach). It was determined by the League 1 Technical Study Group.

“Thank you to my friends for choosing me. However, while in Persija, my work was successful because of the cooperation with the assistant coaches, the team of doctors, officials, and the management,” said Teco at the Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Sunday.

Stefano Cugurra was able to make Persija players performed consistently in every match, to become a champion at the end of the league.

The Indonesian League 1 trophy is also Persija’s third trophy in 2018 after they won the 2018 Boost Sports Super Fix, the international tournament in Malaysia and the 2018 Presidential Cup, the national pre-season competition.

The three wins prove that Teco can build a solid team and have a winning mentality after being appointed as Persija coach at the end of December 2016. That is what makes Stefano Cugurra Teco deserve respect from the Persija Jakarta players.
