Momo, the Bondol Eagle as 2018 Asian Para Games Official Mascot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Unlike Asian Games that lived up by Bhin-Bhin, Atung, and Kaka, the 2018 Asian Para Games is represented by Momo the Bondol Eagle as its official mascot.
“Momo is an abbreviation from motivation and mobility,” said Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) head Raja Sapta Oktohari during Momo parade in Monas, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 23.
Okto said that Momo represented the spirit of athletes with the disability as the Bondol Eagle was known for its strength and bravery.
As quoted from the 2018 Asian Para Games site, Momo is a graphic visualization of Bondol Eagle (haliastur indus).
Easily known for its bright white color from head to chest, the eagle only lived in the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), Jakarta. The United States categorized Bondol Eagle as an endangered species as its population shrinking.
As the Asian Para Games official mascot, Momo wears traditional attires from Batavia that is seen from the belt and the sarong on its neck.
Other than mascot Momo, Asian Para Games also has a different logo. With a concept of harmony, the circle-shaped logo representing harmony formed by diversified nations all over Asia that shines to the world as ‘The Energy of Asia’.
A total of 43 countries will compete in 18 sports branches during the 2018 Asian Para Games which takes place in Gelora Bung Karno stadium, Jakarta on October 6-13.
