TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - INASGOC Deputy Director of merchandise and retail Mochtar Sarman said that the selling period of Asian Games mascots and merchandises will be extended under a pre-order purchasing system.
As reported by Koran Tempo today, Mochtar said that the pre-order system had to be applied following the overwhelming demand from the market for Asian Games souvenirs.
“The three most sought for are the three Asian Games mascot dolls, t-shirt, and replica of the medals,” said Mochtar on Tuesday, September 4.
Despite this situation, the committee will first calculate the total revenue of souvenir sales. As an indirect comparison, the Asian Games Official Merchandise Super Store at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) sold more than 3,000 souvenirs weekly, which does not include souvenirs sold at shopping centers.
INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir confirmed that official Asian Games 2018 souvenirs were the most sought after items since it dominated the news other than ticket sales. He maintained that it is not just a sporting festival, but it managed to improve the short-term economic gain.
