TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 10th Art Jakarta which took place on August 3-5 was held at the Ritz Carlton Ballroom Pacific Place Hotel, presenting hundreds of artists and thousands of works from various countries.
“This event proves that it has been trusted to be a meeting forum for artists and art lovers in the domestic and abroad,” said Paramita Soedarjo, Head of the 2018 Jakarta Art Committee, Thursday, August 2.
The artists carry a variety of programs, including Mall Art by Faisal Habibi; Creative Art Class by Ganara Art Space; Creative Art Talk with a choice of topics including Korean Art Now; How to Collect Art Photography; How to become a collector (by Bekraf); 10 for 10 namely the installation with a museum concept for the A Decade of Art Jakarta from the prominent artists; Art Unlimited for young artists; performances by Sasikirana and Thinking Room, special installations from Meliantha Muliawan and Japan Art Now with 10 Japanese artists. As well as Art Gram held by several galleries, charity auction for the Mitra Museum Foundation, Indonesian Heart Foundation, and DoctorSHARE.
In the Art Jakarta this time, several changes were made. “We change the layout like gallery requests, changes and developments. It’s easier for visitors to enjoy,” said Gill Scheider, Jakarta Art Exhibition Consultant.
At this time, the Jakarta Art committee set the entrance fee at Rp50,000.
Deputy Chairman of the Jakarta Art committee, Ria Lirungan, said she was still optimistic about the enthusiasm of the artists and art enthusiasts for the event.
She estimated the number of visitors might not be as many as last year that was claimed to be attended by as 47,000 people. “Maybe it will not be that much, but we are optimistic that there is still a great deal of enthusiasm for art enthusiasts,” she said.
