TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia`s car production experienced a drastic drop up to 41.5 percent in June 2018, compared to that in May. The data was provided by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo) and the Astra International (ASII).
The data suggested that only 58,837 cars were sold throughout June, almost half of the cars sold in May which saw 100,520 units. The number is the least cars sold on record compared to the previous months.
Gaikindo states that there were 95,952 cars sold in January 2018, while February saw 94,399 cars sold, March 101,813 cars, April 102, 258 cars. The total of cars sold from January to June is 553,779 units.
Similar to Gaikindo, Astra International that oversees numerous car manufacturers such as Toyota, Daihatsu, Isuzu, and Peugeot, saw car sales figures drop 44.9 percent in June. ASII recorded that 48,720 cars were sold in May and dropped to 26,855 cars sold in June.
From the car sales figures, Toyota continues to contribute the most sales by selling 18,767 car units, followed by Daihatsu with 6,720 units, and Isuzu with 1,363 units. ASII managed to sell 268,483 units throughout the period of January to June 2018.
