TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Puan Maharani said discussions as to who was going to be Jokowi's running mate in the 2019 presidential race were limited. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture said Jokowi discussed the issue more with PDI-P chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Puan said she was in the dark as to the names of Jokowi's running mate. “Bu Mega has been meeting with the president, I think she might be discussing it, I don’t know. I didn’t participate in the meetings," she said at the Vice President Office in Central Jakarta, Friday, July 6.

Earlier, the chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), Muhammad Romahurmuziy or Romy, said there were ten names of vice presidential candidates for Jokowi. He added Jokowi would discuss the names with the leaders of the government's coalition parties before July 15.
According to him, news surrounding the names has been circulating in the public, and that the candidates have also worked with the president on many occassions—both formal and informal.
Romy said the ten names hailed from varied backgrounds. "There are retired military leaders, politicians, public figures and intellectuals," he said.
