Police, Customs Inspect Foreign Ships Allegedly Carrying Drugs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Joint team of National Police and Customs inspected a Taiwan flagged fishing ship since it was alleged to carry narcotics. The ship was sailing on the border of Indonesia and Singapore when officers stopped them.
"We are inspecting Win Long Ship," Police Narcotics director General Brigadier Eko Daniyanto said on Saturday, Feb. 24. The inspection also involves sniffer dogs belonging to Batam Customs.

Riau Customs Directorate General Patrol ship intercepted Win Long ship on Philips Straight on Friday. The ship with 28 crew was alleged to carry narcotics to smuggle into Indonesia.
The ship was later directed to Ketapang Customs Special Dock in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands to unload their cargo for inspection. Until now, the joint team is still checking the cargo. "We have worked more than five hours," he said.
