TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and Japan agreed to accelerate the Patimban Port project in Subang, West Java. The construction is targeted for completion by 2019.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the Patimban Port project work is being carried intensively to speed up the progress.
"If other [ports] are completed in three years, we aim to finish this one in one year," he said after accompanying President Joko Widodo to accept Toshihiro Nikai, the special envoy of Japanese Prime Minister at the Bogor Palace, Friday, 19 January.

The Patimban Port is scheduled to begin operation in March 2019.
"Therefore, we are working simultaneously—we are determining the operator," Budi said.
Patimban Port will be co-operated by Indonesia and Japan.
Patimban, said Budi Karya, will be developed as a port with a capacity of more than 7 million TEUs. Meanwhile, its container field will cover an area of 35 hectares.
