Deadpool, X-Men May Join Avengers as Disney Buys Fox Share

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Walt Disney Company (DIS.N) took a major business leap ahead of the year-end by purchasing shares in Twenty-First Century Fox Inc. (FOXA.O), as they announced in their website, Thusrday.
Disney bought US$52.4 billion worth of shares in Fox, which gives them the rights to film and TV studios, cable network, and international TV businesses under Fox.

Disney will also obtain rights to several of Fox iconic characters including The Simpsons, Avatar, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.
The inclusion of X-Men and Fantastic Four as part of Disney's franchise is major news, as it opens a possibility for the superheroes to appear in Disney's Marvel Studios ongoing major franchise, The Avengers.

The deal "provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love," the company website says.
There is no information on when Disney and Fox will seal the deal. The companies have also not made any announcement about a first joint-project.
