TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party deputy chairman Fadli Zon said the electability of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi according to the SMRC poll is considered to be minuscule. He argued that a country leader in their third year of governance should have more than 50 percent electability.
Fadli Zon compared the electability of Jokowi to two world leaders, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Philippines Rodrigo Duterte who scored 70-80 percent electability. Compared to them, said Fadli, Jokowi’s electability level is still low.
“It means that citizens yearn for a new leader,” said Fadli Zon on Friday, October 6.

Fadli believes that Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto is more popular among Indonesian citizens and can overpass the electability of President Jokowi. Based on the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) poll results, Prabowo is Jokowi’s closest competitor with a 12 percent electability.
SMRC conducted its poll in early September that involved 1,220 respondents with the survey having a 3.1 percent margin of error and a 95 percent level of confidence. Executive Director of SMRC Djajadi Hanan stated that Jokowi can be re-elected in a landslide against Prabowo if the Presidential Election is to be held this year.
