Sri Mulyani: Govt Allocates Rp292.8tn Budget to Eradicate Poverty

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has allocated a budget of Rp292.8 trillion to eradicate poverty and inequality in the draft 2018 state budget (RAPBN). The programs include social protection, food assistance, health care and education.
As for social protection, the government will increase the number of beneficiaries (KPM) in the Family Hope Program (PKH) from 6 million to 10 million. The allocation for PKH in draft 2018 state budget is Rp17.3 trillion.

In addition, the government has allocated Rp13.5 trillion for non-cash food assistance with cards to replace rice assistance (rastra) program.
As for non-tax subsidies, the government has allocated Rp161.6 trillion. In the education sector, the government earmarks Rp10.8 trillion for 19.7 million students and Bidik Misi scholarships worth Rp4.1 trillion for 401,000 students.
In the draft 2018 state budget, the government allocates Rp25.5 trillion for 92.4 million beneficiaries to pay the fee of the National Health Insurance (JKN). As for village funds, Sri Mulyani has allocated Rp60 trillion.
