TEMPO.CO, Kupang - The cycling sports and tourism event, Tour de Timor 2016, will be held on Timor Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, from November 29 to December 3, 2016, and will be participated by domestic cyclists only.
Chairman of the Tour de Timor (TdT) Welly Rihimone confirmed on Monday, Nov. 28, that no foreigners would join the event.
"Until now, 50 participants from outside NTT have confirmed their participation in this event," he said, without giving details on the absence of foreign participation.
The participants will start on Nov 29 from Motaian border post, East Tasifeto Sub-district, Belu District, which shares the border with Timor Leste.
From Motaian, they will proceed to Malaka District on Nov. 30; to North Timor Tengah District (TTU) on Dec. 1; and to South Timor Tengah (TTS) on Dec 2.
TdT is aimed at promoting Timor Island, particularly its tourism, investment potential, as well as its culture and traditions.
Earlier, the organizing committee had said that several cardiologists from Malaysia would join the sports tourism event.
