TEMPO.CO, Bogor - A huge swarm of bees went out of control in the midst of strong winds that happened at Bogor Botanical Garden on Sunday, October 9, 2016. The bees targeted a group of kindergarten students that were conducting an activity there.

The incident caused dozens of children, parents, and local employees to be rushed to the Indonesian Red Cross Hospital, Bogor, due to bruises and shock caused by the bee stings.

Anisa, one of the student’s parents that became the victim of the bee sting said there were thousands of bees that attacked them. The grist of bees came out of their nests in between large trees that were swaying because of the strong winds. “I immediately hugged my two children and rushed them away,” she said.

The attack, Anisa said, caused dozens of kindergarten students, parents, and teachers scatter. “At first I saw four people running while screaming for help and in an instance, the thousands of bees attacked us too,” she said.

Security personnel and employees of Bogor Botanical Gardens that came to help were also attacked by the bees. One of them was Funjar. According to him, who said the strong winds rattled the bee hive that was on the top of the tree.

“The bees felt threatened by the shock and then attacked the visitors.”
