TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Businessman Erick Tohir confirmed that he is one of the participants of the tax amnesty program. "I have reported my company's shares," Erick said at Jakarta tax office on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
Erick, the majority shareholder of Inter Milan, has decided to participate in the tax amnesty program to build trust in the national economy. Erick hoped that many will follow his step to invest in the domestic market.
According to Erick, the Indonesian national economy currently needs help. Erick added that the tax amnesty program enables the government and business owners to join hands to provide support in driving the economy. Erick also hoped that the tax amnesty program would help to promote Indonesia to foreign investors.
Erick and his brother Garibaldi "Boy" Thohir, called on other businessmen to participate in the tax amnesty program. Despite the lengthy process to calculate their assets, both Erick and Boy agreed that the reporting process was not complicated. "[The process is] simple," Boy said.
