TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry has expressed its support for the construction of infrastructure to facilitate the development of tourist destinations in Raja Ampat, Papua. Raja Ampat is one of the ministry’s top ten tourist destination development priority.
The Public Housing and Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said one of the ministry’s programs in Raja Ampat to develop its tourism sector is road construction. The ministry is currently constructing a 342-km long Raja Ampat ring road.
“We have completed 152km, 30km of which has been paved with asphalt,” he said in a written statement, Sunday, September 4, 2016.
Aside from road construction and improvement, according to Basuki, Wasai Port in Raja Ampat will also be revamped.
“I believe we have to set a designated program [for Wasai Port improvement] to turn it into an entry to national and even international tourist attractions,” Basuki said.
