TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yorrys Raweyai, chairman of the Jakarta branch of the Functional Group (Golkar) Party Executive Board, said that Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama was likely to run in the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election as a political party candidate.

"It's almost certain. Ahok will announce it tomorrow," Yorrys told Tempo on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.

Yorrys explained that Ahok, parties supporting Ahok; namely the National Democratic Party (NasDem), the People's Conscience Party (Hanura), and the Golkar; and Ahok's supporter group Teman Ahok (Friends of Ahok) would gather on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, and announce Ahok's political moves.

"It's not a declaration. It's just an announcement," Yorris added.

In response to a question related to the date, Yorris said that it was picked after a meeting between political parties and Teman Ahok.

After announcing Ahok's candidacy, Yorrys said that Ahok’s supporters would form a campaign team.

"It's almost certain [that Ahok will run] as a political party candidate," Yorrys reiterated.

According to Yorrys, the strategy help Ahok winning the election has been arranged by his party's campaign team.
