TEMPO.CO, Semarang-State-owned oil company PT Pertamina (Persero) of Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region marketing area said that the fuel crisis along Java’s northern coastal road (Pantura), namely in Tegal, Brebes and Pemalang, is due to distribution issue. Pertamina considers that there is a problem in distribution channel that lead to difficulty in fuel transport to gas stations.
“The shortage is due to delivery factor, the road for the distribution has been used for homecoming trips. It’s congested, it has made it difficult,” said Public Relations Manager, PT Pertamina (Persero) of Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region marketing area, Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
According to Suyanto, PT Pertamina is currently using some strategies to meet the need for fuel in Pantura, among others, by deploying small cars. “To ease the distribution to the intended destiation,” Suyanto added.
Moreover, Pertamina has asked the police to escort oil tank trucks along the way to gas stations.
PT Pertamina even have to instruct gas stations to be proactive by directly deliver fuel to users who are running out of gas. “We directly [deliver fuel] to users who are running out of gas,” Suyanto explained.
