TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Bhayangkara Surabaya United (BSU) secured a 3-1 win against the visiting team Bali United in the Torabica Soccer Championship in Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo, Sunday evening, July 3, 2016.
The BSU’s goals were scored by Rudi Widodo in the 9th minute and 38th minute, while Fandi Eko Utomo scored another in the 65th minute. Bali United’s goal was scored by I Nyoman Adi Parwa in the 62nd minute.
After the game kicked off, Bali United immediately attacked Surabaya United defense while also trying to set the tempo.
The BSU, however, took the lead after Rudi Widodo scored in the 9th minute. Khair Allah Abdelkbir made the goal possible after he breached Bali United’s right defense.
The BSU doubled their lead in the 38th minute through Rudi Widodo after a one-two combination between Rudi and Fandi Eko which was finished by Rudi’s bullet shot into Bali United’s goal.
Bali United made it 2-1 in the 62nd minute after I Nyoman Adi Parwa’s long shot from outside of the box failed to be anticipated by the BSU keeper Wahyu Tri.
The BSU quickly responded to Nyoman’s goal. They scored in the 65th minute through Fandi Eko’s header after an exchange from Fandi and Rudi Widodo in Bali United’s penalty box.
The 3-1 scoreline for the BSU remained until the final whistle.
In a post match interview the BSU coach Ibnu Grahan expressed his gratitude for the win. According to him, it was possible due to the hardwork of his players. “Thank god, the win is a present for Bhayangkara [the national police] anniversary,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bali United coach Indra Sjafri said that an early goal from the BSU in the 9th minute disrupted his team’s performance. More so that the goal was scored from his players’ mistake.
“I will evaluate it ahead of the next game,” he said.
The result has put the BSU sixth in the table with 14 points. Whereas Bali United is in 13th with 9 points.
