TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that his office has coordinated with related ministries and institutions to intensify securities during the Lebaran holiday in public places, including airports.
"The Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police will openly and secretly deploy personnel in airports. If they wear uniform, it is in accordance with the order," Luhut said at his office in Jakarta on Friday, July 1, 2016.
According to Luhut, the plan has been discussed with the Transportation Ministry.
Luhut added that the government has not received any threat messages from radical groups, such as the Islamic State (IS).
"There is no such a threat so far, since the National Police has been doing a good job, such as in a case in Surabaya. It’s a good turning point," Luhut explained.
Earlier, National Police's anti-terror squad Special Detachment (Densus) 88 arrested four alleged terrorists for trying to set off a bomb on June 22, 2016 in Surabaya. They allegedly planned an attack similar to that in Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Jakarta, in early 2016.
"The National Intelligence Agency (BIN) and the National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) have been doing a great job," Luhut said.
Luhut hopes that vital spots will remain secure during the long holiday.
