TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) had finally approved the Tax Amnesty Draft Bill to be passed. Despite numerous interruptions, DPR Speaker Ade Komaruddin summarized that the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) fraction and the Democrat Party fraction had rendered its approval.
Some of the interruptions came from Deputy Chief of the PDI-P fraction Arif Wibowo stated that "there has to be a consideration to delay the approval of the Tax Amnesty Draft Bill."
Another interruption came from Rieke Dyah Pitaloka, one of PDI-P fraction members, who claimed the government was inconsistent with the Draf Bill.
"The aim [of the Draft Bill] was to boost state revenue in 2016, but the tax amnesty period extends to 2017. This is inconsistent," Rieke said.
Nevertheless, the Draft Bill was finally approved by PDI-P and Democrat party fraction. On the other hand, the Prosperity and Justice Party fraction spokesperson Ecky Awal Mucharam said that his party refused to approve the Draft Bill in relation to several Articles, including on tax manesty objects, facility and tariffs, origin of assets, period, and repatriation fund allocation for the infrastructure sector.
